Job Description

Position Summary: The Department Secretary is responsible for varied clerical responsibilities that support Capital Radiation Therapy. Duties include scheduling and registering patients, answering phones, and typing. Follows policies and procedures of Capital Medical Center provide patient car activities and related non-professional services in caring for the personal needs and comfort of patients and their families. Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor in a timely manner.

Position Qualifications:
1. Ability to meet minimum hospital hiring standards
2. High School Diploma or GED
3. Current WA C.N.A. or Certified MA license required
4. 1 or more years experience preferred

Essential Job Functions*:
1. Provides overall clerical support to the department, ensuring fast turn around time, accuracy, and completeness of work. Identifies, develops, and implements improvements to continuously meet the needs of the department.
2. Registers patients.
3. Efficiently answers multi-line phone in a professional manner.
4. Greets patients and escorts them to appropriate areas.
5. Records and files protocol information. Closes out charts on patients who have expired. Prepares temporary charts for patients. Types brief summary of treatment as patients complete their treatment.
6. Types daily schedule.
7. Maintains office supplies.
8. Performs well in stress and emergency situations.
9. Copies patient records for other physicians and insurance companies.
