Job Description

Position Summary: Responsible for various clerical support functions required for the daily operations of the Medical Information Services Department to include phone duties, chart collection, assembly and processing, handling routine information requests, filing and retrieval tasks, data collection and verification, assists Medical Center personnel and medical staff as needed. Enters, edits, and maintains various electronic files and databases, indices, assists other MIS staff as directed by manager.

Position Qualifications:
1. Ability to meet minimum hospital hiring standards.
2. High school or GED

Essential Job Functions:*
1. Discharged charts are assembled and analyzed as per procedure within two working days of discharge 95% of the time and without errors.
2. Completes all additional filing into the patient visit by the end of the week 95% of the time.
3. Maintains medical records accountability for all inpatient and observation charts.
4. Completes position responsibilities in a timely manner. Able to set priorities and work independently and handle emergent and stressful situations.
5. Able to communicate with other departments to insure all information required for a complete medical record are received and properly completed.
6. Track all H&P's that are outside of the Joint Commission Standards and communicate results to Department Directors and QIC for improvement processes.
7. Completes all additional filing into the patient visit by the end of the week 95% of the time.
