Job Description

SHIFT: ON CALL PRN ONLY

Position Summary: Under the supervision of the Director of Respiratory Care Services, the Cardiopulmonary Rehab/Heart Failure (HF) Specialist assumes responsibility for performing day to day implementation and follow- up of clients enrolled in the Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehabilitation programs with emphasis on nursing assessment, intervention, case management and participation in the hospital’s CHF program. Plans, develops, and coordinates services for Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehabilitation and HF program. The CP Rehab/HF Specialist also performs other duties as assigned by the Clinical Coordinator of Respiratory Therapy.

Position Qualifications:
1. Ability to meet minimum hospital hiring standards.
2. Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with a minimum of one-year experience in an outpatient cardiopulmonary rehab program , within the last two years preferred or CoARC (Respiratory Care) WA State Respiratory Care Practitioner or Exercise Physiologist
3. Healthcare BLS
4. Healthcare ACLS

Essential Job Functions*:
1. Provides patient education and training bases on patient’s need and abilities, documents patient’s age appropriate response to learning in accordance with hospital policy.
2. Demonstrates a high degree of skill in the selection and use of equipment based on current and past objectives and professional knowledge; Conducts a complete assessment of the patient by: evaluating efficacy of procedures/therapy, modifying/adapting to insure the patient’s needs are met.
3. Performs well in stressful and emergency situations. Recognizes emergency situations, initiate codes, perform first aid / CPR as needed.
4. Demonstrates a proficiency in the use of Meditech information system, charting and billing in accordance with hospital policy.
5. Assists in the orientation of new personnel
6. Coordinates care provided with other therapies directed by disciplines.
7. Promotes positive relationships with physicians/offices.
8. Performs other duties as assigned by department manager in a timely manner. Stays current and proficient with the latest technology, procedures, and therapy.
9. Leads HF committee with the Clinical Coordinator of Cardiopulmonary.
