Position Summary:
The Administrative Supervisor is responsible for assuring the continuity of care through the supervision and coordination of activities on an assigned shift. Is a resource for all operational aspects of nursing and ancillary departments to assure optimum functioning of the hospital in the absence of the department directors.

As Registered Nurse utilizes the knowledge base of nursing education and experience in order to deliver nursing care using the nursing process according to hospital policies, procedures and protocols. The RN responds to life-threatening situations with appropriate nursing interventions. The RN organizes patient care delivery by prioritizing, delegating, delivering and evaluating on an ongoing basis.

Position Qualifications:
1. Ability to meet minimum hospital hiring standards.
2. Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
3. WA Registered Nurse license
4. AHA Heathcare BLS
5. AHA Healthcare ACLS within 3 months of hire
6. AHA Healthcare PALS within 6 months of hire

Essential Job Functions*:
1. Coordinates staffing to ensure optimum patient care according to census and acuity. Documents and explains deviations from standardized staffing patterns to management. Facilitates staffing and scheduling patterns in accordance with staffing plans and productivity reports. Schedules staff and ensures attendance is within hospital and departmental guidelines.
2. Ensures staff development by coaching employees as needed and documenting appropriately. Manages and verifies nursing license renewals for staff and agencies. Updates agency evaluations and checks lists per policy. Promotes and continually educates employees on the concept of excellent customer service for all customers of the department including patients, visitors, physicians, and other employees.
3. Addresses patient complaints and customer service issues. Ensures problems encountered with patients, physicians, or family members are resolved or acknowledged for follow up. Promotes interdisciplinary care by serving as liaison between the department, physicians, and members of the healthcare team.
4. Contributes to a safe and healthy work environment by removing hazards, keeping unit/work area neat and orderly, and identifying/reporting potential patient/staff safety issues. Participates in organization-wide and department activities to help assure and improve patient comfort, safety, and care. Considers factors related to safety, effectiveness, cost, and impact on practice in the planning and delivery of nursing services.
5. Recognizes, reports, documents, and seeks appropriate intervention for signs of symptoms of complication or changes in status. Establishes and adjusts priorities based on patient acuity and changing clinical situations.
6. Participates in the hospital admission system to coordinate patient requirements to determine appropriate admission status with nursing staff availability.
7. Maintains compliance with regulatory requirements, including all state, joint commission, and federal regulations in area of practice, including National Patient Safety Goals and Core Measures.
8. Accepts personal accountability for own professional development. Assumes the responsibility for clinical competency and professional development. Contributes to the professional development of peers / colleagues and others. Actively seeks knowledge and skills appropriate to the practice setting.
